Federation Readiness

To protect patient privacy and navigate complex jurisdictional regulations, it is often preferred to access data at the hospital or clinic where it was generated. When multiple facilities are involved, this method is called federation. In federated data analysis, all facilities must present their analysis-ready data (ARD) using a common data model. Piano's Agile AI™ technology processes the data at each site and transforms it into OMOP, the gold standard for healthcare common data models.

However, minor site-specific differences can emerge that lead to "dialects" within the OMOP standard. Our patented Evidence Hub platform solves this by coordinating sites to ensure each facility’s data is compliant with the common data model and compatible with all other facilities. For instance, Evidence Hub guarantees that if one facility introduces a new terminology concept and issues a new ID for it, all network facilities use the identical concept with the same ID. Similarly, Evidence Hub ensures consistent application of data quality tests, extra tables, population characterizations, and more across all facilities.
